Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement
The ASEAN Social Development Journal (ASDAL) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The journal adheres to internationally recognized principles of ethical publishing and expects all parties involved in the publication process—authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers—to comply with ethical standards of scholarly conduct.
This statement is informed by internationally accepted best practices in academic publishing.
- Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
Authors submitting manuscripts to ASDAL must ensure that:
- The work is original and has not been published elsewhere.
- The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal simultaneously.
- Proper acknowledgment of the work of others has been made through accurate citation and referencing.
- All sources of funding and potential conflicts of interest are clearly disclosed.
- Data presented in the manuscript are accurate, authentic, and free from fabrication or falsification.
- All listed authors have made significant scholarly contributions and have approved the final version of the manuscript.
Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited. All submissions are subject to similarity screening using plagiarism detection software.
- Ethical Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for:
- Making publication decisions based solely on the academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance of the manuscript to the journal’s scope.
- Ensuring a fair, objective, and confidential review process.
- Maintaining editorial independence and avoiding conflicts of interest.
- Protecting the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities.
- Taking appropriate action when ethical concerns or misconduct are identified.
Editors will not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research without the author’s explicit written consent.
- Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers are expected to:
- Provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations.
- Maintain confidentiality of all review materials.
- Declare any potential conflicts of interest before accepting a review assignment.
- Identify relevant published work not cited by the authors.
- Alert the editor to any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, or ethical misconduct.
Reviewers must not use information obtained through peer review for personal advantage.
- Publication Misconduct
ASDAL does not tolerate any form of academic misconduct, including but not limited to:
- Plagiarism
- Data fabrication or falsification
- Duplicate submission or redundant publication
- Improper authorship attribution
- Citation manipulation
- Undisclosed conflicts of interest
If misconduct is suspected, the editorial board will conduct an investigation in accordance with established ethical procedures. Confirmed cases may result in manuscript rejection, retraction of published articles, notification to affiliated institutions, and prohibition of future submissions.
- Corrections and Retractions
If significant errors or ethical violations are identified after publication, the journal will issue:
- Corrections (Erratum or Corrigendum)
- Expressions of Concern
- Retractions
These actions will be conducted transparently to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.
- Data Transparency and Research Integrity
Authors are encouraged to maintain transparency in research methodology and data reporting. Where applicable, authors should be prepared to provide access to raw data for editorial review.
- Conflicts of Interest
All participants in the publication process must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence their work. Conflicts of interest will be managed transparently to maintain objectivity and trust.
